Alisa has a passion for lactation practice skill-building, incorporating an awareness of mental health and social support into lactation care, and integrating evidence into practice. She is an affiliate member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Caring for the Breastfed/Breastmilk Fed Baby: A presentation for childcare providers

Many mothers struggle with continuing breastfeeding during the transition into childcare. This course provides education and resources about breastfeeding and breastfed infants to childcare providers, and helps families feel confident that the people caring for their child are well-versed in the science and nuances of breastfeeding.
Course topics include:
  • tips for creating a smooth transition to childcare for baby
  • unique feeding needs for breastfed infants
  • Breast milk 101 (components, safe handling and storage, etc)
  • Paced bottle feeding
