Caroline G. A. van Veldhuizen-Staas, IBCLC
about Caroline G. A. van Veldhuizen-Staas
My main area of expertise and favored speaking topic is ''the physiology and normalcy of lactation''. Lactation as an intrinsic part of the female biography and the biological blueprint of the human newborn and young child are main cornerstones to built on. Alongside with the physiology comes ''troubles and struggles to get breastfeeding started and settled''. Close to this is the influence of birthing and maternal-infant care settings in western societies on the development of breastfeeding and lactation in every single breastfeeding dyad. That brings ''counseling the nursing family'' to be the next topic of interest.
Presented on a basis of scientific theory, larded with longtime practical experience and spiced with humor these topics will hold on the interest of the attendees till the last word and inspire them to rethink their options.
official bio
Born halfway the 6th decade of the 20th century, as 5th child of a teacher's family, Gonneke van Veldhuizen-Staas grew up to become a teacher herself. Via becoming a mother and a La Leche League Leader she became a Lactation Consultant in 1992, as one of the first 12 LC's in The Netherlands. Teaching and lactation consulting in private practice were tied together in becoming a well known speaker and lecturer at seminars and conferences and in the training of new Lactation Consultants.
