About the Speaker
Perinatal Nurse Educator and Researcher, Sherry L. Payne MSN RN is an extraordinary storyteller and presenter. She provides training and continuing education for healthcare organizations, and professional audiences. Her areas of expertise include infant mortality and lactation in the African American community, maternal infant health in disaster planning (including the importance of supporting continued lactation), and the impact of birth practices on lactation.

Sherry L. Payne MSN RN, is a nurse educator and lactation counselor. She teaches maternal infant health, and cultural competence in communities of color. She holds an MSN from Reseach College of Nursing, in Nursing Education. She is currently co-chair of the Women's, Infants, and Children's Health Committee of the Kansas City Health Commission, an editor for Clinical Lactation, a journal of the United States Lactation Consultant Association, and a board member for Coalition to Improve Maternity Services (CIMS). She owns and operates Perinatal ReSource, a research, education and training firm that promotes health equity and justice for communities of color in maternity care and lactation promotion. Ms. Payne resides in Overland Park KS.
