The Ethics of Social Media and the Lactation Professional
What are the mores for the culture of the internet? With social media evolving, the latest trend for both professionals and parents is the concept of crowdsourcing and oversharing. The internet provides a way for professionals and clients to interact and create the illusion of intimacy without ever having to have in person contact. This new style of communication arrives with certain ethical dilemmas. What can be shared and how should it be communicated? This course will help one identify the standards of ethical internet behavior via email, social media, YouTube and blogs and begin to understand the fine line between what is unethical and what is simply unprofessional.
This course can be applied for E-CERPS, CAPPA, DONA, Lamaze and ICEA credits.
